Tiaras
This is an intensive day of tuition and hands on with beads and wire to make tiaras from first principles. Working with plain wire you will learn to make simple bands, traditional arches and contemporary asymmetric tiara frames which can then be decorated with beads, crystals and stones.
Decorating the frames means lots of beads, crystals and stones which can be attached on twisted stamens; made into flower sprays; stitched into filigree mesh and dangled on trembling curls of wire. The decorations for the tiara frames can also be used on hair combs and pins, wired fascinators and hat bands.
The visiting tutor is Julie Ashford who, with the help of a fabulous team, has run The Spellbound Bead Company for nearly twenty five years. Starting out as a jewellery designer who made hundreds of pairs of earrings a week she has taught beading workshops for the last twelve years. Many of her former tiara students now run their own very successful bridal businesses.
